In 2005, the Joint Chief Information Officers (JCIO) were formed as a group to review the findings of the Enterprise Infrastructure and Personnel Assessment (EIP study) and implement steps to gain the synergies identified in the study. The JCIO members meet twice a month and have initiated several projects in the areas of security, infrastructure/networking, purchasing and business processes. Through these projects, the JCIO will report to the Technology Governance Board (TGB) those IT efforts currently underway regarding consolidation, joint-agency collaboration and cost savings.

In an attempt to communicate the JCIO's progress on these various projects, a status report has been distributed every month to the TGB, and the report is also published to the TGB/JCIO website.
